Chris Kormis is an experienced Chief Marketing and Communications Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry and achieving measurable results. Kormis has a strong educational background and professional skills in Integrated Marketing and Communications, Strategic Planning, Leadership and Building Teams, Brand Stewardship, Crisis Communications, University and College Mergers and Acquisitions Communications, Writing, Editing, Alumni Engagement, and Board Management.
Chris Kormis is a builder. Guided by an institution’s mission and goals, she has experience developing strategy and tactics, executing them, evaluating the results, and making modifications to achieve the goals. She also loves to lead teams and inspire creativity.
Kormis has served in leadership roles at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business as Associate Dean, Chief Marketing Officer, and Senior Advisor to the Dean (2009-2021) presiding over the divisions of marketing and communications, alumni relations, and corporate and external partnerships. She also was the Assistant Vice President for University Relations at The George Washington University (1990-2008).
Kormis earned a B.A. from Duquesne University and an M.A. in English, professional writing, and rhetoric from George Mason University. She speaks at conferences, serves on panels, and publishes articles on marketing and communications for higher education.
Chris Kormis will work closely with you to assess your organization and its marketing and communications needs. Kormis's process is personal. She will talk with your community members and stakeholders to develop strategic recommendations that are implementable, measurable, and aimed toward your institution's mission, vision, and goals.
